Trumpet & Trombone

Donna Gouger teaches trumpet and directs the brass ensemble at NCMC. She is on the faculty of Smith College and the Smith College Campus School. She graduated magna cum laude from UMass with a B.M. in Music Performance. Donna’s diverse performance experience includes appearances as a Baroque piccolo trumpet soloist and work in jazz, theatre, opera and symphonic orchestras.


Sheldon Ross teaches trumpet at NCMC. He received his B.M. in Music with High Honors at Binghamton University, has studied at Ithaca College School of Music, and has completed graduate studies at UMass Amherst. A certified music educator and active freelance performer, Sheldon has performed in nearly 150 musical theatre productions including at Boston Lyric Stage, Ogunquit Playhouse, Maine State Music Theatre, Goodspeed Opera House, Stoneham Theater and Wheelock Family Theatre. Sheldon has appeared as guest soloist with the Holyoke Civic Symphony, and is currently a member of the Clarion Brass Quintet, and Principal Trumpet for The Keene Chamber Orchestra. He is also a current faculty member of Deerfield Academy and the Belchertown and Amherst Schools.


Nicole Maragus teaches trombone at NCMC. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in music education at the University of Delaware and is pursuing her Master’s degree in trombone performance at UMass Amherst. Before moving to Massachusetts, Nicole was assistant director of the First State Middle School Trombone Choir and served on the faculty of the Community Music School of Delaware.
