Imane Touafek

Violin

Imane Touafek teaches violin at NCMC. She received her B.A. in Music from Stony Brook University where she studied with Lewis Wong and Joanna Kaczorowska, and is an MFA candidate in Sonic Arts at Brooklyn College. She began Suzuki studies at age five with Kathleen Kalogeros and then classical studies at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School with Alexey Shabalin. Also a composer and playwright, she is an alumnus of the Tony-honored BMI Musical Theatre Workshop and her work has been performed off-off-broadway at The Wild Project, Symphony Space, and The Tank. Imane is a Deep Listening® facilitator and practices a playful, collaborative approach to learning, creating, and handing down the wisdom of her mentors.
