John Mason teaches guitar and is a coach for NCMC's Summer Rock Band Program. He received his B.A. in guitar performance from Middlebury College, where he studied with Thomas Geoghegan. John also studied jazz at Berklee College of Music with Bill Bresnahan, and studied fingerstyle orchestral guitar with Tuck Andress. He has taught guitar on the faculty of Williston-Northampton School, Northfield Mount Hermon School, Westfield State University, Western New England University, and Holyoke Community College. He performs extensively throughout the Northeast with the Back Bay Guitar Trio and the Ellen Cogen Ensemble, as well as improvisational concerts with saxophonists Ted Levine and Ed Harlow, and percussionist Gary Rzab. In 2002, John won the Guitarmageddon National Championship at the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH.
